Your Questions about the Computer Literacy & Internet Knowledge Test Answered

Can I compare candidates across CLIK 1.0 and CLIK 2.0?

While you can use CLIK 2.0 for the same jobs you’ve previously used CLIK 1.0 for, candidates who have completed CLIK 1.0 can’t be reliably compared with candidates who have completed CLIK 2.0.

CLIK 2.0 adds additional content that CLIK 1.0 does not assess, and updates existing content in CLIK 1.0 to be more consistent with modern computer conventions and internet norms.

Additionally, CLIK 2.0 is marked out of 25 while CLIK 1.0 is marked out of 20. For these reasons, a score of “20” on CLIK 1.0 (all questions correct) does not mean the same as a score of “20” on CLIK 2.0 (five questions incorrect).

As a result, candidates who have completed CLIK 1.0 cannot be directly compared to candidates who have completed CLIK 2.0.

What are the differences between versions 1.0 and 2.0?

Here are the key differences between the two versions of CLIK:

  • The user interface looks more modern and up-to-date
  • Enhanced item relevance and difficulty
  • Chat application simulation added
  • Cyber security (phishing, password strength)
  • More advanced calendaring
  • More advanced emailing
  • Global relevance of items

Simulation 1 asks the candidate to copy and paste content into an email and send the email. (Versions 1.0 and 2.0)

Simulation 2 asks them to perform an internet search, open a new tab and fill out a form. (Versions 1.0 and 2.0)

Simulation 3 asks them to copy and paste content into a chat and send to multiple recipients. (Version 2.0 only)

10 multiple choice questions - items amended and updated to include cybersecurity, calendaring, advanced emailing (BCC).

How can I update from using version 1.0 to version 2.0?

After October 27th, 2021, any new jobs created will automatically use CLIK 2.0. From this date it will not be possible to create a new job using the old version of CLIK, as we will be deprecating this old version over time.

Any existing jobs will continue to use CLIK 1.0. These will be marked for update using an exclamation icon and you can then choose whether to upgrade these jobs to the new version.

You are able to upgrade any jobs that you can view in your Criteria account.  Once you upgrade a job to use CLIK 2.0, any candidates in that job who have completed CLIK 1.0 will be marked with an exclamation icon, indicating that they’ve completed the previous version of the assessment.

How can I experience the new version for myself?

If you would like to try the assessment prior to upgrading, then you can create a new “test” job and add CLIK to the test battery for that job. Invite yourself as a candidate to complete the test.

You can then choose whether or not to update your existing jobs.
